Parser and UP ACM
Tooting our horn, among other things.
Last January 15, 2005 the first General Assembly for the Association for Computing Machinery - UP Student Chapter (the first and only Student Chapter in the country) was held at the Engineering Theater. A good part of it profiled the international organization and the local chapter, started in 2003. However, it was only now that things moved forward. At the very least, that's how we saw things. I'm pretty sure not very many people were aware of the founding of a Student Chapter here, or maybe even the existence of an ACM abroad.
Now let me get to the better part. Here's the list of the newly-elected officers that day (The formal turnover, I believe, will be conducted on February 1.):
Congratulations, everyone.
(Ang sarap piratahin ng slogan ng isang sikat na org... We Lead. No harm meant whatsoever though.)
EDIT!
For anyone who wants to join the Student Chapter (take note: this is different from the paid membership abroad), secure application forms at the Department of Computer Science, or get in touch with the people above, especially those in charge of Membership (Mai) and Records (Sophia). Be ready with a 1 x 1 ID picture, a copy of your Form5, and a semestral membership fee of fifty pesos.
